Belgian or Oval Style Casting Technique

The Belgian cast is great for south Texas because we have a lot of wind, and it requires little, if any false casting. You can make long casts and short casts quickly with minimal disturbance on the flats, and you can easily change directions. Single handed spey casts are a breeze using this casting style, as well as abbreviated roll casts and switch casts.

John Pettigrove wrote the following essay with illustrations on the Belgian or oval casting style.
